Coursework preliminary exercise

 1) 100 word statement:

My 45 second clip of fantasy drama is called Gooles. My scene will be based on a woman who is known to be called a specific species of humans named gooles. Gooles tend to have all human characteristics and cannot be differentiated from human physically however they are known for their secret - they consume other species blood. A 16 year old girl named Lily is on her way to grandmas house where she's heading after school. As she walks through this forest path, she sees this woman mysteriously sitting in her way and as Lily turns around she looks in utter disbelief at what is in front of her. The woman sees the teenage girl looking at her in shock and through this the chase scene begins of the goole woman and the human teenager through the depths of the forest.

2) Writing a script:

(Lily is walking through the forest as she is texting with her mother)

(The goole should be absorbing blood on the ground with it’s back facing Lily, distanced from Lily so that as she is walking she approaches it)

(texts on the screen)

Lily: schools finished. heading to grandma's house right now

Mum : okay make sure your using the outside roads and your not talking to any strangers

Lily : omg don't worry I'll be fine. its really not that far and ive been there like 100 times before.

Mum : okay be safe. I love you.

Lily : same

(Lily notices Goole and stares in shock at the back of the head)

Lily: excuse me?

(Goole turns towards her and lily stares in shock, drops her phone in shock)

(Goole gets up and runs as the teenager runs after her - the chase scene begins)

(Goole trips and falls and teenager is able to catch it and pins them to a nearby tree so it cannot move)

Lily : What are you?

Goole : (laughs)

Lily : I asked you a question! What are you? (takes out her phone to call the police)

Goole : (laughs) Not today Lily.(Kicks Lilly off and gets up to run)

Lily : wait. how do you know my name?!

(Lily's eyes widen in shock)

(scene ends)

3) Casting :

Lily - Raagni

Goole - Simona

4) Planning the locations:

The scene will take place in a forest area which will be filled with only trees and leaves and plants. The scene will take places on a mainly isolated area with no one around and the Goole is hiding.

5) Shot-list:

Close-up shot - When the teenager meets the goole and has a startled reaction on her face.

Long shot - When the chase scene takes place a long shot will be needed to show the teenager catching up with the Goole.

High-angle shot (bird's-eye view) - When they are running.

Over the shoulder - In the final clip when the Goole is about to run off after getting up a over the shoulder shot will be used behind the teenager.

Pan - As they are running the pan camera will be following them.

Medium shot - The first encounter between the Goole and the teenager as they see each other.
